Y., 25 June 1862, by Rev. Leonard Cole, Methodist Episcopal, to Frances T. Webster, dau. of Joseph Barnard and Maria Brown (Dunham) Webster, of Windham, Penn., where she was born 26 Jan. 1843. They dwelt at 136 First Avenue, New York, till 20 March 1875; and then settled at Candor, N. Y., where they were living in Aug. 1877.

IV. Henderson Ward Buttles, b. at Lee, Mass., 30 March 1842; a druggist; married at Windham, Penn., 24 Aug. 1864, by Rev. Seymour Epaphroditus Walworth, Methodist Episcopal, to Alice Mary Webster, dau. of Joseph Barnard and Maria Brown (Dunham) Webster, of Windham, where she was born 16 Nov. 1844. They dwelt at Nichols, N. Y., till Feb. 1866; and then settled at New York City, where they were living in Aug. 1877, at 41 St. Mark's Place.

I. Lucy Ann Buttles, b. at Lee, Mast, 25 Aug. 1839; married at Halsey Valley, N. Y., 4 Aug. 1861, by Rev. Solomon Snyder, Christian, to Jonathan Hess, a farmer, born at Lansing, N. Y., 13 May 1834, son of Abraham and Mary (Detrick) Hess. They settled at Halsey Valley; where be died, 18 Sept. 1865, and was buried. She was married (2d), 30 Jan. 1868, at Halsey Valley, by Rev. Asahel Bourn, Christian, to Johnson Rumsey, a farmer, son of James and Nancy (Codington) Rumsey, of Halsey Valley, formerly of Ithaca, N. Y., where he was born 15 June 1827. They were living at Halsey Valley in 1874.

III. Sarah Jane Buttles, b. at Lee, Mass., 1 Oct. 1843; married at Smithboro', N. Y., 5 Feb. 1864, Freeman Wesley Van Marter, a farmer son of Elijah and Sarah E. (Lott) Van Marter, of Barton, N. Y., where he was born 12 Aug. 1843. They settled at Barton, and were living there in 1874. He served for one year and four months, in Co. C, 5th Reg., N. Y. Cavalry, in the war of 1861.
