Richard Whitney, parentage unknown married Joan -- and had at least one son John.
In the act book (HD4/1/129) of the consistory Court of the bishop for Hereford for 1546-1547 at page 25 (Michael Faraday counting system)is an item of Weobley deanery;
Executores testamenti Ricardi Wyttney de Staunton, videlicet: Johanna eiusdem relicta et Johannes A Wyttney; probato per Johannam testimento in ecclesia parochiale de Stretton xviii Julii commissa est ei administrationem et dominus commisit vices suas Rectori de Letton ad recipiendum juramentum mulieris et committendum ei administrationem et fatebatur bona extendere ad summam vi £ et sic dimissa.

The executors of the testament of Richard Wyttney of Staunton (on Wye), that is: Joan his relict & John A Wyttney; the testament having been proved by Joan in the parish church of Stretton (Sugwas) on 18 July (1547) the administration was granted to him and the judge (the lord) committed in his place the Rector of Letton to receive the woman's oath and to grant her administration and the goods were shown to stretch to the sum of £6 and so it was dismissed.
