She was buried at Scotland, C. W. He married (2d), 11 Sept. 1849, at Alden, N. Y., Caroline Adele Davenport, who was born in Covington, N. Y., dau. of Horace and Emily (Bradley) Davenport, afterward of Lancaster, N. Y. He lived at Lancaster till after 1862; and then moved to West Union, Iowa, where he was living in Nov. 1874. By the second marriage he had five children born in Lancaster, the eldest of whom, Emily Jeannette Tiffany, married Lewis Malcolm Whitney, son of William Alexander Whitney.

III. Ellen Stewart Whitney, b. at Grimsby, Canada West, 17 Dec. 1820; married in the Mohawk Church (Episcopal) near Brantford, C. W., by Rev. Abraham Nellis, 19 May 1839, to Paul Moore, a farmer, of Burford, C. W., born at Grimsby, 5 Dec. 1817, son of John and Phebe (Hufman) Moore. He lived in the village of Scotland, in the township of Burford, Ontario, Canada, in 1873.

IV. William Alexander Whitney, b. at Grimsby, Canada West, 8 Aug. 1822; married at Scotland, C. W., 29 Oct 1845, Emily Malcolm, born at Scotland, 31 Oct 1827, dau. of Eliakim and Semantha (Saxton) Malcolm. He settled in Scotland; went, in May 1861, to Geneva, Wisconsin; and moved thence, after five months, to West Union, Iowa, where he lived in 1873, a dealer in furniture and real estate.

V. Sarah Esther Whitney, b. at Grimsby, Canada West, 21 Ap. 1825; married at Scotland, C. W., 10 Feb. 1842, John Paul Smith, born at Scotland in 1820, son of Jacob and Charity (Hoofman) Smith. They settled at Scotland, and there died (she, 1 June 1851; he, 10 Sept. 1870), and were buried.

VI. Bartley Stewart Whitney, b. at Grimsby, Canada West, 8 March 1827; married at Norwichville, C. W., 17 Ap. 1849, Dinah Switzer, born at Quebec, Lower Canada, 6 Dec. 1832, dau. of Amos and Dinah (Switzer) Switzer, the latter residing in Peterborough, C. W., at the time of her marriage. From 8 March 1844 to 8 March 1848, he lived in Brantford, C. W.; then in Norwichville, C. W., till 1 May 1852; in New Scotland, C. W., till 20 Sept. 1853; in Geneva, Wis., till 7 July 1858; in Prairie du Chien, Wis., till 20 Aug. 1859; and since that time in Elkader, Iowa. He is a manufacturer of tin and copper wares, and a dealer in stoves, iron and hardware.
