Chil. of Matthew Seymour and Rebecca (Stewart) Hoyt. 1996

6332 I. James Stewart Hoyt, b. in Coventry, N. Y., 15 Nov. 1838; enlisted in New York City, 20 Ap. 1861, in Co. B, First Reg., N. Y. S. Vol. Infantry, serving under McClellan on the peninsula, and taking part in the battles of Fair Oaks and Seven Pines; and was instantly killed, while making a charge, in the battle of Chantilly, Va., 1 Sept. 1862. He was buried on the battle-field.
6333 II. Sarah Emma Hoyt, b. in Coventry, N. Y., 19 Jan. 1842; died 13 July 1844, in Coventry, and was buried there.
6334 III. Edward Payson Hoyt, b. in Coventry, N. Y., 25 Oct. 1846; enlisted, Sept 1864, in the Tenth Reg., N. Y. S. Vol. Cavalry; served to the close of the war, and was discharged in June 1865, having been at the bombardment of Fort Fisher, under Gen. Terry. He grad. at Binghamton Commercial College in 1866; and was married, 10 May 1866, in New York City, by Rev. Gordon Smith, Episcopalian, to Jennie Eliza Sagendorph, born at 95 Broadway, Providence, R. I., 12 Oct 1849, dau. of George Adam and Sarah Frances (Greene) Sagendorph. She grad. at Stanwix Seminary, in Rome, N. Y., in 1866. After a year spent in Brooklyn, N. Y., and a year in Rocky Mountain travel, he settled in Deposit, N. Y.; and removed to Binghamton, N. Y., where he was living in 1873, foreman of a sash and blind factory. 14358
6335 IV. Alice Cornelia Hoyt, b. in Coventry, N. Y., 10 Dec. 1848; lived in Coventry in 1873; married, 5 Sept 1876, Samuel Sheldon.

6338 III. Mary Hoyt, b. at West Pittston, Penn., 7 Oct 1860; died there, 10 Oct. 1861, and was buried in West Pittston Cemetery.
