Probate records for Hezekiah Whitney, Berkshire Co., Mass., file #6372: on 4 Jan 1842, widow Mehitable Whitney, administratrix, listed the heirs at law known to her as follows: "Mehitible Whitny widow of sd deceased[,] Juliette wife of Jesse Williams, Paul Whitney[,] Lucy wife of Asa Gilpin[,] Sally wife of Jno Bowen deceased heirs[,] Tabitha wife of John Bowen[,] Mahitible wife of Nathan Smith[,] Hezekiah Whitney[,] & Amanda wife of Isaac Snow". The implications for this family are as follows: (1) Lucy Whitney apparently married Asa Gilpin after her marriage to David Chatfield; (2) if John Bowen married the younger Juliette Whitney after marrying Sally Whitney and before marrying Tabitha Whitney, he apparently had no children by Juliette; and (3) Hannah Clark Whitney, wife of Isaac Snow, was apparently called "Amanda" by her mother.
