His English origin is unknown, the ancestry assigned to him in the splendid genealogy by Phoenix having proved false.
A miller; bought at Southold, L. I., 8 Oct. 1649, with Edward Treadwell and Thomas Benedict. He rem. by 1658 to Huntington, L. I.
He m. (1) -----; m. (2) Sarah, widow of Edward Ketchum of Stratford. In 1660 he objected to Joseph Whitman as suitor to his dau. [stepdau.] Sarah Ketchum. He rem. abt. 1662 to Jamaica, L. I., and by 1665 to Norwalk, where he d. in 1673.
Will 5 June 1672; wife; son John; Thomas Benedict, Sr., Walter Hoyt, and Thomas Fitch, Sr., my beloved brethren and friends, overseers. Inv. 8 Nov. 1673.
