was of the Connecticut family. Samuel owned the covenant in the Congregational church at Stratford July 7, 1723. His grave stone reads as follows: Here lies buried the body of Mr. Samuel WHITNEY who Departed this Life December ye 6, 1753, in ye 66th year of his age.
