6588 VII. Sarah Maria Whitney, b. in Marion, Iowa, 20 Aug. 1856; was living there with her father, in Sept. 1874.

6589 VIII. Cineh Lauretta Whitney, b. in Marion, Iowa, 22 Dec. 1862; died 10 Feb. 1863, and was buried in Prairie Grove Cemetery, at the Friends' meeting-house, called Prairie Grove chapel, in Wayne township, Iowa.
6590 IX. Milton Miller Whitney, b. in Marion, Iowa, 24 Oct. 1865; was living there with his parents, in Sept. 1874.

6591 I. Elizabeth Alzina Ashley, b. in Auburn, Ohio, 12 Dec. 1845; died in Hartford, Mich., 29 July 1866, and was buried there.
6592 II. Lucy Amanda Ashley, b. in Auburn, Ohio, 12 March 1847; a teacher; married at the house of her uncle, William Whitney, nine miles north-west of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, 16 Aug. 1871, by Rev. John Haynes, Methodist Episcopal, to John Nevius Renton, a homoeopathic physician, who was born at Amwell, N. J., 29 Ap. 1797, son of James and Hannah (Nevius) Renton.1 They settled in Carbondale, Ill.; removed, in Jan. 1872, to Sabula, Iowa; thence, in May 1872, to Fair Haven, Ill.; and, in July 1873, to Lightsville, Ill. while attending school in Jackson, Mich., she was admitted a member of the Protestant Episcopal Church; when in Ohio, a few years later, she joined the Disciples' Church, by immersion; and after marriage, entered the Methodist Episcopal Church, to be with her husband, who had been a member of it for fifty years.
6593 III. Henry Whitney Ashley, b. in Auburn, Ohio, 30 Nov. 1848; died of whooping-cough, 14 Feb. 1849, at Auburn, and was buried there.
6594 IV. William Harrison Ashley, b. in Auburn, Ohio, 30 Dec. 1849 enlisted 30 Aug. 1864, in the 13th Reg., Mich. Vol. Inf., and was discharged 26 Oct. 1864, for disability; married at Hartford, Mich., 26 Jan. 1867, Susan Garnsey, whose father then lived in Arlington, Mich. She was born in Montague, N. Y., 1 Dec. 1848, dau. of Alonzo and Lurana (Hamblin) Garnsey. They settled in Arlington; went, in Ap. 1869, to Mason Co., Mich., where he "located" eighty acres of land under the 14516
  1 James Renton was an officer in the Revolutionary War. His wife died in 1799, in New Brunswick, N. J.; he died in 1805.
