9971 I. Nathaniel G. Bass, a teacher and farmer; settled at Hope, N.Y., on a farm adjoining that of his father.
9971a II. Joseph Bass, was living at Hope Falls, N.Y., in Aug. 1877.
9971b III. George Bass, was living at Hope Falls, N.Y., in Aug. 1877.
There were several others in this household.

9973 II. Laranah Downs, b. at Leeds, U.C., 21 June 1803; married at Lewiston, N.Y., 1 Sept. 1825, John William Kemmis, a machinist, son of William Kemmis, of Cambridge, N.Y., where he was born 19 July 1799. They were living at Schenectady, N.Y., in July 1865. 17243

John Whitney Downs, b. at Elizabethtown, U.C., 21 March 1806; married at Ridgeway, N.Y., 9 May 1834, Maria Louisa Wilkins, born at Montpelier, Vt., 1 Feb. 1816, dau. of Richard and Maria (Emerson) Wilkins. They dwelt at Hamilton, U.C., for six years; then settled at Brantford, U.C., and were living there in Oct. 1876. He dwelt at Gainsborough, U.C., for seven years before marriage. 17250
9975 IV. Laura Downs, b. at Elizabethtown, U.C., 8 Oct. 1809; married ----- Hill, of Pelham, U.C.; and died in 1835.
