Clarissa Whitney Soule, b. at Fairfield, Vt., 1 Feb. 1819; married there, 21 Feb. 1843, Rensselaer Read Sherman, M.D., who was born at Fairfield, 23 Dec. 1818, son of Elijah and Sarah (Larkin) Sherman, and grad. at Albany Medical College, Albany, N.Y., 23 Jan. 1849. They resided at Fairfield till May 1854; and then removed to St. Alban's, Vt., where he practised his profession, and was deputy-collector of Customs, in 1873. 17332
10023 VII. Orissa Barlow Soule, b. at Fairfield, Vt., 8 May 1821.
10024 VIII. Lucia Esther Soule, b. at Fairfield, Vt., 13 Sept. 1822; married Alonzo Allen Farrand; and had no children.
10025 IX. Samuel Hungerford Soule, b. at Fairfield, Vt., 3 Sept. 1824; married, 24 Nov. 1859, Sarah Emily Merrill, who was born 15 Nov. 1835. 17336

10029 II. Edwin Carlos Soule, b. at Fairfield, Vt., 13 Feb. 1823; a justice of the peace; married at Fletcher, Vt., 1 May 1849, Jane C. Wheeler, dau. of Ira and Eunice (Bradley) WHeeler, of Fletcher, formerly of Fairfield, where she was born 20 Jan. 1826. 17351
10030 III. Helen Mar Soule, b. at Fairfield, Vt., 14 Ap. 1824; married Edward J. Hicks, an iron-founder, of St. Alban's, Vt., and died at Troy, N.Y., in Sept. 1869. 17355
10031 IV. Mariette Soule, b. in West Street, Fairfield, Vt., 18 May 1826; married there, by Justice Joab Smith, at her father's house in West Street, 13 May 1849, to John Wight Nye, a farmer, son of Benjamin and Mary (Wight) Nye, of Fairfield, formerly of Marlborough, N.H., where he was born 12 Ap. 1821. They settled at Fairfield; where she died 7 Sept. 1852, and was buried in South Cemetery. He was living about one mile west of the centre of Fairfield in 1873. 17357
