Van Gaasbeck, Methodist Episcopal, to William Watson Donaldson, a farmer, born in New York City, 6 July 1837, son of John and Mary (McCormick) Donaldson; and settled at Beekmanville, N. Y., where they were still living in 1874. He enlisted, 11 Oct. 1862, in Co. G, 150th Reg., N. Y. S. Vols.; took part in the battles of Gettysburgh, Penn., Resaca, Ga., Dallas, Ga., Atlanta, Ga., Savannah, Ga., Averysborough, N. C., and Burtonsville, N. C.; and was mustered out 8 June 1865.

XIV. Levina Whitney, b. at Farmer's Mills, Kent, N. Y., 16 Nov. 1844; married at Patterson, N. Y., 12 Aug. 1866, Elijah Ballard, a blacksmith, born in Delaware Co., N. Y., 8 Sept. 1837, son of Darius and Caroline (Eastwood) Ballard. They lived at Ludingtonville, N. Y., in 1874. He served for three years in the war of 1861, enlisting 4 Sept. 1862, in the 172d Reg., or Anthony Wayne Guard; was transferred to Co. L, 6th Reg., N. Y. Heavy Artillery; and was discharged, as a corporal, 20 July 1865, "having been in the battles of Williamsport, Manassas Gap, Bristow Station, eleven days in the Wilderness, Spottsylvania, Allison's farms, Bethesda Church, North Anna River, Cold Harbor, Petersburgh, Cedar Creek, Shenandoah Valley, and Bermuda Front."

I. Mary Mills, b. at Patterson, N. Y., 7 March 1822; married there, 24 Jan. 1841, at her father's house, by Rev. John Warren, Baptist, to DeRuyter Gay,1 a farmer, born at Southeast, N. Y., 28 March 1819, son of Daniel and Phebe (Shaw) Gay. They settled at Patterson, near Towner's Station; and were living there in Feb. 1874, on her father's homestead.
