Hammond, Methodist Episcopal, to Charlotte Ann May, who was born at Hollidaysburgh, Penn., 27 Oct. 1847, dau. of Andrew and Martha (Dubline) May. They settled in McGregor, Iowa; and afterward moved to Sand Creek, Nebraska, where they were living in July 1875. He enlisted at McGregor, 20 May 1861, in Co. C, 3d Reg., Iowa Vol. Infantry; and was discharged, as a corporal, at Benton Barracks, St. Louis, Mo., 4 Dec. 1861.
