X. Wilberforce Richmond Whitney, b. in Gibson, Penn., 31 Aug. 1840; a farmer; married in Great Bend, Penn., 9 March 1866, by Rev. Stephen Elwell, Methodist Episcopal, to Helen Maria Washburn, who was born in Gibson, 3 March 1849, dau. of Ira and Eliza (Belcher) Washburn. They settled in Gibson; moved to New Milford, Penn., in Ap. 1868; and returned, in Feb. 1871, to Gibson, where they were living in Sept 1874.

I. David Everett Whitney, b. at Windsor, N.Y., 2 Oct. 1822; a farmer; married at Harford, Penn., 18 Sept. 1853, by Rev. Adam Miller, Congregational, to Cordelia Carpenter, dau. of Elias and Polly (Hawley) Carpenter, of Harford, where she was born 19 March 1825. They dwelt in Harford till 1870; and then settled at Gibson, where they were living in Jan. 1875. They have no children.1 He was mustered, 18 Sept 1862, as capt. of Co. B, 17th Reg., Penn. Cavalry; and was discharged with the same rank, 28 Dec. 1862, for physical disability caused by sickness contracted in the service.

I. William Pickering, b. at Gibson, Penn., 27 Dec. 1819; a farmer; married at Mt. Pleasant, Penn., 25 May 1841, Mary Tiffany, whose parents, John and Sally (Bigelow) Tiffany, lived at Mount Pleasant, where she was born, 3 Aug. 1813. They settled in Gibson, and were living there in March 1874. He served from 10 Oct 1862 to 5 Aug. 1863, as corporal, in Co. E, 177th Reg., Penn. Militia.
