Hannah Jane Whitney, b. at Esopus, N.Y., 13 Aug. 1825; married there, 28 Sept. 1844, in her father's house, by Friends' ceremony, to Effingham Lawrence, a farmer, who was born at Esopus, 15 May 1811, son of Thomas and Sarah (Smith) Lawrence. They settled at Esopus; and in 1867, moved to East Park, in Hyde Park, N.Y., where they were living in 1874, without children.

II. Leonard Lewis Whitney, b. at Esopus, N.Y., 10 May 1827; a blacksmith; married at Olive, N.Y., 3 Dec. 1846, Mary Morgan, dau. of Elias and Rhoda (Molyneaux) Morgan. She died at Olive in 1848, without children. He married (2d) Elizabeth Elmendorf, widow of Oakley; and lived at 111 Pavonia Avenue, Jersey City, N.J., in 1873.

Daniel Butler Whitney, b. at Esopus, N.Y., 7 Ap. 1831; a carpenter and builder; married at New York City, 10 Feb. 1853, Mary Jane Traver, dau. of Henry and Leah (Kipp) Traver, of Esopus, where she was born 5 July 1833. They dwelt in New York City; at Poughkeepsie, N.Y., till 1 Sept. 1855; in Illinois, most of the time at Auburn, till Oct 1859; and then returned to Poughkeepsie. They were living at Wappinger's Falls, N.Y., in Oct 1874.

IV. Elizabeth Whitney, b. at Esopus, N.Y., 14 May 1835; died at Esopus, 21 Feb. 1842, and was buried there, in the Coutant family-cemetery.

James Robinson Whitney, b. at Esopus, N.Y., 15 Ap. 1837; a farmer; married at Poughkeepsie, N.Y., 15 Sept 1858, Ruth Flagler, who was born at Poughkeepsie, 21 Jan. 1837, dau. of Zachariah Solomon and Patience (Wilkinson) Flagler. They lived at Aurora, Ill., in 1859; at Beekman, N.Y., in 1860 and 1861; at Great Bend, Penn., in 1862 and 1863; at Ackley, Iowa, in 1864 and 1865; and since that in Nebraska, in the towns of Nemaha, Benton, Humboldt, and Bratton, which last was their home in Nov. 1874.
