- I am searching for any information relating to the WHITNEY family of High Easter, Essex (near Braintree and Chelmsford) during the first half of the 1800s. My ancestor Simon WHITNEY was transported to Australia for stealing 4 chickens in High Easter in 1849. He was approx 21 at the time ie born c.1825-27. I know that there were other WHITNEYs in High Easter at the time i.e.Henry born 1823, George born 1829, and James born 1810 & it's possible that Simon was their brother or cousin. If I can track down descendents of these people I might be able to find out more about Simon's ancestry. Simon ended up in Campbell Town, Tasmania, Australia with 14 children after marrying Anne GUINAN of County Kildare. He died 6 April 1905. Many Thanks
