Family:Whitney, Josiah (1663-1717)
Josiah3 Whitney (Jonathan2, John1), son of Jonathan2 and Lydia (Jones) Whitney,[1] was born 19 May 1663, Watertown, MA,[2] and died 29 Dec 1717, Wrentham, MA, in his 53rd year.[3]
He married firstly, say 1694, Mary -----,[4] parentage and birth unknown. She died 18 Jul 1710, Wrentham, MA.[5]
He married secondly, 3 Nov 1713, Dorchester, MA, Abigail Martin.[6] She was probably the same Abigail Martin, daughter of Richard and Elizabeth (Gay) Martin, who was born 14 Nov 1669, Boston, MA.[7] She died 6 Dec 1734, Wrentham, MA.[8]
On 21 Dec 1702 he was mentioned as a son in the will of his father.[9]
On 4 Feb 1713/4 he was mentioned as a brother in the will of Benjamin3 Whitney of Sherborn.[10]
His inventory was taken on 15 Jan 1717/8.[11]
Children Jonathan, Abigail, Mary, and Josiah were mentioned in the division of his estate.[12]

i. Mary3 Whitney, b. 5 Mar 1695/6 ("Whitting");[13] living in 1718. ii. Josiah Whitney, b. 21 Feb 1698.[14] iii. Jonathan Whitney, b. 16 Jun 1703;[15] m. Tryphena Daniel. iv. Abigail Whitney, b. 22 May 1708;[16] m. Preserved Hall. v. Hannah Whitney, b. 11 Jul 1710;[17] likely the unnamed daughter who d. 24 Apr 1719, Wrentham, MA.[18] vi. ---ill Whitney, a daughter, name incomplete and birthdate unknown; d. 24 Nov 1711, Wrentham, MA.[19]
Josiah3 and Abigail (Martin) Whitney had no children.
