Colorado. Asa Watrous7 Whitney (Appleton Downer6, Asa5, Joshua4, William3, Joshua2, John1), born Pittsfield, Massachusetts, 11 Jan 1810; married at Pittsfield, Ohio, 19 Feb 1838, Mary Ann Wightman; born 23 Mar 1818; died Bellevue, Ohio, 26 Apr 1891.

Colorado. Asa Waltrous Whitney, son of Milton Whitney, was a colonel in the Ohio Militia, and was called upon to name the town of Pittsfield, Lorain County, Ohio, when it was organized as a town; was elected town clerk and held that office for seven years; was later elected justice of the peace and held that office for six years. He was a kind man to the poor and highly respected. He died 23 May 1868; resided Pittsfield, Ohio.

ii. Lydia Whitney, born 25 Aug 1841; married 29 Nov 1866, Carlos A. West; resided Wellington, Ohio. He was born 18 Oct 1843; died 12 Mar 1880; was a farmer and a soldier in the late war.
Ch.: Wealthy Eva, born 31 Oct 1867; married to John H. Pember, 25 Dec 1890; Etta Messenger, born 2 Dec 1869; Edna Lucie, born 2 Apr 1872; Edith Mary, born 11 Jul 1874, and died 21 Jun 1879. All born in Pittsfield, Lorain County. O.; P.O. address, Wellington, Lorain County, Ohio.
iii. Edward Whitney, born 12 Sep 1844; married Celia Adelaide Spicer.
iv. Sylvanus Whitney, born 22 Jun 1846; died 3 Oct 1849.
v. Asa W. born Nov. 16 Whitney, 1848; unm.; resided Belevue, Ohio.
vi. James Jay Whitney, born 16 Aug 1858; married Alice Amelia Stout.
vii. Frederick C. Whitney, born 18 Aug 1854; married Emma J. Hollinsworth.
