Benjamin5 Whitney (Daniel4, Benjamin3, John2, John1), son of Daniel4 and Dorothy (Tainter) Whitney was born 12 Apr 1723 at Watertown, MA[1] and died before 8 Sep 1790[2].

Benjamin married Deliverance (--?--) before 15 Sep 1745 at Watertown, MA.

Deliverance (--?--) was born circa 1724 at prob. Watertown, MA. She and Deliverance Cutting may be the same person, based on age, geographical proximity, and name (but no proof has yet been found).

Children of Benjamin5 and Deliverance (--?--) Whitney:

i. Lydia Whitney6, b. 15 Sep 1745 at Watertown, MA.
ii. Henry Whitney, b. 8 Jan 1745/46 at Watertown, MA; baptized 12 Jan 1745/46 at Watertown, MA; m. Hannah Tombs 5 Jan 1769 at Newton, MA; husband "of Watertown;" d. before 2 Oct 1788; d. before 8 Sep 1790.
He This birthdate is less than 4 months after that of his older sister, Lydia, as they are both reported in the Watertown Vital Records for Whitney. Since the next child was not born until Sept. 1749, there is a possibility that this date should have been 1746/7, and someone, seeing 1746, "corrected" it to 1745/46. Lydia's date of 15 Sep 1745 is far less likely to have been misinterpreted than a date between Jan 1 and March 25.
Robert Ward indicates that he was a cordwainer in 1788 in Watertown, Middlesex, MA.
iii. Sarah Whitney, b. 1 Sep 1749 at Watertown, MA.
iv. Benjamin Whitney, b. 2 Feb 1751 at Dummerston, VT.
v. Deliverance Whitney, b. 20 Nov 1757 at Watertown, MA; b. 20 Nov 1757 at Dummerston, VT.
vi. Esther Whitney, b. 1759 at Dummerston, VT.
vii. Sally Whitney, b. 1761 at Dummerston, VT.
viii. Polly Whitney, b. 1763 at Dummerston, VT.
