Family Talk:Whitney, Asa (1743-1803)
I found 2 interesting newspaper articles which may relate to this family. From the Norwich Packet dated March 21, 1774: Preston, Whereas Sarah my Wife has for serveral months past, been endeavouring to injure me in my interest and to run me in debt &c. Thee are therfore to forbid all persons trusting said Sarah, for I will not pay ant debt of her contracting. Asa Whitney
The second article comes from the New York Journal dated Nov 17, 1774: New York, Tuesday afternoon, a poor woman formerly of this city, and of a reputable family, but late the wife of one Whitney of Connecticut, from whense she had just arrived, in her way to Carolina, where we hear her husband now resides, was seized with a fit and fell down in the street, before the door of Mr. Wallace's house, where she was taken in, she recovered but was soon seized with another fit in which she expired.
