Family Talk:Whitney, John (1823-1892)

As noted on the family page, John Whitney's ancestors are unknown. Based on a family bible, there is an indication that he was from Johnstown, Canada. This was a hand scribbled note in pencil, probably written by a child. It says something like: "Mr. J J Whitneys book, Johnstown, Canada, Ont."

Is it possible that John was a son of David Whitney (1754-1830) and Mary Glassford (1787-1832)? Is he a son who fits between Calvin W and Asa Whitney?
