Hello Allen,

    Another member of the WRG sent me to: <a href="http://freepages.books.rootsweb.com/~rbrown/salem/">http://freepages.books.rootsweb.com/~rbrown/salem/</a> . I was looking for the birth of Lydia Williams, reportedly born in Salem 10 Sept 1810. However, no birth on that date is recorded for Lydia Williams. There were several Lydia Williams born there, but none that match this date. 

    So, I'm left to wonder.  The birth date and place comes from F.C. Pierce in reporting the marriage of Lydia Williams to Eliab Turner Whitney of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Pierce has this family so messed up that it's hard to give anything he published about them any credence. There is no doubt in my mind that Eliab married Lydia Williams, but the attribution of her birth may be an error. Perhaps she was one of the Lydia Williams born in Salem, but that will have to be further investigated. Luckily, I have serendipitously found a volunteer researcher in Nova Scotia who is helping to sort out the problem. Thanks for the offer of a lookup. I appreciate it.
