Edit My Whitney Line

Hello: My name is Roberta: Im no blood relative to the Whitney line, but my mom was put into the care of the State of Maine when she was about 3 and raised by Frank & Winifred Whitney in West Old Town, Penobscot County, Maine. I began an email correspondent with Ken L Whitney some time ago through Penobscot County Genealogy where I was a volunteer researcher. Ken then introduced me to Larry Tracy and we've had a lot of fun since then. Im currently researching members of Maine's militia-particularily those attached to the State Land Agent's office and have never been acknowledged- along with the civilian support personnel engaged in the Protection and defense of The Northeastern Boundary of the United States during what is traditionally considered the Aroostook War era with the goal of getting them the military recognition they deserve. Im a retired high school history teacher. When I was about 22 (30 some years ago), my grandmother decided I was the grandchild who would be responsible for the keeping of the family records when she was no longer able to do it. She began sending me information in letters, relating bits and pieces of memories and contemporary information. I was hooked. My grandmother's grandfather's parents were Jonathan Chase ( Aquila Chase and Ann Wheeler-Eng to Newbury MA circa 1640)and Susannah Jordan (Rev ROBERT Jordan and Sarah Winter- Eng to Spurwick/Cape Elizabeth ME circa 1620). Cyrus Chase married an Atwood-blood lines as prominent as the Whitneys. It is inevitable that our lines will cross several dozen times as your family and mine are explored. I appreciate the editing disclaimer. Im a terrible writer and am still learning the finer points of genealogical format-albeit a justification & offset for my really great research skills (my first love)LOL Please feel free to call on me for any assistance I might be able to render in the Maine area. I am a member of Sons & Daughters of first Settlers of Newbury, Mass; DAR; DUV: Maine Genealogical Society and I have a Maine State Archives research card. Bertie
