I am a direct descendant of Capt. Nathan Whitney's daughter Thankful Whitney (born Columbia, Maine in 1780) who had a daugher Lydia Whitney (O'Brien) 1804-1898 by Machias Revolutionary War notable Col. Jeremiah O'Brien (1744-1818) out of wedlock.

Thankful Whitney died as Mrs. Isaac Meader on February 2, 1864 in Freedom, Maine.

Lydia Whitney-O'Brien married Aaron Simmons Sherman (1798-1888) of Marshfield and Bridgewater Massachusetts. Aaron S. Sherman was the builder of the famous Thomas Ruggles House in what is present-day Columbia Falls, Maine.
