my whitney family
I don't know if you have us in here...most of us live in California but were probably decended from John from Watertown, MA as we were part of the building of Yale University, in New Haven, CT:
My father was Peter Dwight Whitney, son of Elizabeth Goodrich Whitney and James Lyman Whitney. He had a brother, James Goodrich Whitney who married Deborah Toleman and had 3 children: Kathleen, Peter and Nick - Nick and Kathleen are both in Northern CA and Peter is in New Milford, CT. His sister, Frances married Jerry Anderson, the sculptor, and had children Jennifer, and others I am not sure of. Peter Dwight Whitney married Lois Abbott and had Stephen Clarke, James Clinton and Elizabeth Abbott. Then he married Frances Friedman and had me, Joanna Goodrich. Stephen Clarke married Mary Ann Ward and has Jessica, Christa and David and lives in Berkeley, CA. James Clinton married Elizabeth Brown, and had Rebecca, Thomas and Peter, and lives in New Haven, CT. Elizabeth Abbott married John Gage and had Lisa Gage. Lisa Gage married Eric Enriquez and has Evangeline and Luna and lives in Ukiah, CA and I am unmarried and live in Englewood, CO. My father Peter died March 7, 1991 and is buried with his parents in the Branford, CT cemetary.
Your Lineage
Joanna,
I think your ancestry can be traced starting here: Family:Whitney, Henry Mitchell (1843-a1900). He seems to have been your great-grandfather, and his son James Lyman Whitney, b. 1881, your grandfather. Of course, there was more than one person by that name, so I could be wrong.

Submitting Information
Joanna,
One way to submit information is by using the form at Create a Family Group Page. If you find that too hard or too inconvenient, you can just e-mail it to me, in any form you like. Then I'll use the form myself. Be sure to include the sources of your information, whether documents (give the title, author, etc.) or people (give name and an address, e-mail or otherwise).
