I've been googling Mary Storey Parry and came across your post.
I'm not related to her. But she was a witness at the marriage of what might be my great-great grandparents.
I'm having a tough time with my gggrandfather. His name was William Henry Addison, born 1812 in Saint John, New Brunswick (1851 & 1871 NB census). His wife was Jane.
No marriage records of any kind in NB. But...there is a marriage of a William Henry Addison to Jane Cartmel in Liverpool in 1836. Mary Storey Parry and William Halcrow were the witnesses. Too bad William Henry couldn't have waited a year for the civil records which began in 1837:-( The impetuosity of youth:-)
My William was a ship's carpenter. The William who married in Liverpool was a carpenter.
There was a tremendous amount of ship traffic between Saint John NB and Liverpool. There are many factors, 18 that I have been able to think of, why this could be the correct marriage. But I have no proof.
William Halcrow was apparently a ship's captain who married in Saint John. Mary Storey Parry married a ship's captain from Saint John. So both the marriage witnesses have Saint John connections.
I'd be very interested in your thoughts on this. I'd be interested in any information you may have on Mary, because she takes my imagination! Must have been a tremendous adventure to pack up and leave England for the wilds of New Brunswick:-)
