Daniel Harris6 Whitney (Benjamin5, John4, Henry3, John2, Henry1), son of Benjamin5 and Ann Mercy (Harris) Whitney, was born 29 Dec 1795, New Hartford, CT, and died after Aug 1874.
He married, 26 Feb 1824, Vienna, NY, Louisa Caswell, daughter of Solomon and Polly (Leach) Caswell, of MA. She died 12 Jan 1863, Constantia, NY.
Phoenix says the following:
- Daniel Harris Whitney, b. at New Hartford, Conn., 29 Dec. 1795; a carpenter; married, 26 Feb. 1824, at Vienna, N.Y., Louisa Caswell, dau. of Solomon and Polly (Leach) Caswell, of Mass. They dwelt, for some time, at Taberg, N.Y.; then moved to Mexico, N.Y., where he had an interest in a foundery and plough-factory; and finally removed to Cleveland, in Constantia, N.Y., where she died, 12 Jan. 1863. He was still living at Cleveland, in Aug. 1874.
Children of Daniel Harris6 and Louisa (Caswell) Whitney:
i. Francis Daniel7 Whitney, b. 1 Mar 1827, Mexico, NY; a carpenter and joiner; m. 1852, Lenox, NY, Emily Childs, who d. 1865, Detroit, MI. He d. Apr 1854, Cleveland, in Constantia, NY, and was buried there. They had no children. ii. William Henry Whitney, b. 30 Mar 1829, Mexico, NY; m. Emma Clayson. iii. Charles H. Whitney, b. 30 Jun 1831, Taberg, NY;; a photographer; m. 30 June 1873, Savannah, NY, Abbie Herington, dau. of John and Betsey (Houghton) Herington, of Whitestown, NY, where she was born 14 Sept 1836. They settled at Cleveland, in Constantia, NY, and were living there in Aug 1874, without children. Before his marriage, he had lived, for three years, in New York City, and, for twelve years, in Baldwinsville, NY. iv. Fanny Maria Whitney, b. Cleveland, NY; d. Oct 1847, Cleveland; bur. there. v. Louisa Jane Whitney, b. 11 Apr 1836, Cleveland, NY; m. 14 Feb 1865, A. F. Tipton; resided Apr 1875, Elkader IA.
