Valentine Trumpbour7 Whitney (James6, Ezekiel5, James4, Henry3, John2, Henry1), son of James6 and Sarah (Trumpbour) Whitney, was born 22 Dec 1814, Catskill, NY, and died after 1880.
He married, Sarah Catharine Schoonmaker, daughter of David and Jennie (Van Louven) Schoonmaker. She was born about 1813, NY, and died after 1880.
Phoenix says the following:
- "They settled in the town of Saugerties, N.Y., and were living there in Nov. 1873."

James Freer8 Whitney, b. 15 Apr 1837, Saugerties, NY; m. 17 Jun 1863, West Camp, in Saugerties, NY, Lanah Mower, daughter of William Henry and Sarah (Dederick) Mower, b. 31 Jul 1834, Myner Hill, in Saugerties, NY; a farmer and quarryman. They have lived for three years at High Falls, in Marbletown, NY; three years at Myner Hill; two years at Saugerties; and then returned to Myner Hill, where they still resided in Feb 1875. ii. George Schoonmaker Whitney, b. 28 Apr 1839, Saugerties, NY; m. 1859, Caatsbaan, NY, Sarah Catharine Saxe, daughter of Paul I. and Margaret (Dederick) Saxe, b. 6 Jun 1838, Caatsbaan, NY; a quarryman. They dwelt at Caatsbaan for two and a half years; at Quarryville, NY, two years; at Catskill, NY, two and a half years; and then moved to High Falls, NY, where, after eight and a half years, they were still living in Apr 1875. iii. Mervin Richardson Whitney, b. ca. 1846, NY; m. Ettha -----; lived at Saugerties, NY.
