Charles Dennis⁷ Whitney (Barnard⁶, William Clark⁵, Henry⁴, Josiah³, John², Henry¹), son of Barnard⁶, was born 17 Mar 1833, Paterson, NJ, and died after 1880.

He married, 10 Sep 1859, Paterson, NJ, Emma Jane McCall, daughter of William Dorsey and Sarah Jane (Groucher) McCall. She was born 28 Dec 1843, Hamburgh, NJ, and died after 1900.

Phoenix says the following:

". . . a clerk . . . . He dwelt in Jersey City, N.J., from 1854 to 1862; and then moved to Paterson, where they were living in May 1875, at 69 Paterson Street."
