Adam8 Whitney (Jonathan7, Jonathan6, Joseph5, Benjamin4, Joseph3, John2, John1), son of Jonathan7 and Lucy (Parks) Whitney, was born 14 Sep 1817, Watertown, MA, and died 14 Oct 1891, Fitchburg, MA, aged 70 years 1 month, of valvular heart disease.[1]

He married 17 Jan 1847, Marshfield, MA, Mary Ann Sylvester, daughter of Amasa and Deborah (Damon) Sylvester.[2] She was born 8 Sep 1808, Marshfield, MA. No death record has been found in MA.

He resided Fitchburg, MA.

i. Debora Adams9 Whitney, b. 3 Nov 1847, Cambridge, MA;[3] m. between 1870 and 1880 [no record found in MA], Elijah Wilbur. 1900 Census in Randolph, VT. No children.
ii. Lucy Whitney, b. 13 Nov 1848, Cambridge, MA;[4] d. Jan 1851 [no record found in MA].
iii. Andrew James Whitney, b. 30 Jan 1851, Waltham, MA [but no record found in MA]; "of Fitchburg" m. 29 Dec 1881, Princeton, MA, Lizzie Snowden Taylor "of Princeton"; dau. of Thomas P. and Maria A. (Boyrne) Taylor; mechanic and chairmaker.[5] 1900 Census in Leominster, MA. No children.
iv. Arthur Eugene Whitney, b. 4 Jan 1852, Weston, MA;[6] m. 15 Jul 1874, Fitchburg, MA, Anna C. Smith, daughter of John and Elizabeth (-----) Smith; resided Fitchburg.[7] In 1900 Census in Fitchburg, MA, wife called "Emma B."
v. George Benjamin Adams Whitney, b. 27 Oct 1853, Fitchburg, MA;[8] m. Annie Louise Tayler.
