Richard Whitney of Hardwicke, Herefordshire, England (Eustace, John, [possibly] Eustace, Robert, Robert, Robert, Eustace, Eustace, Robert, ...), son of Eustace and ----- (Vaughan) Whitney of Clifford, Herefordshire, England, was born say 1525, and died after the writing of his will, 20 Apr 1583.
He married Anne -----, of whom we know only that she was mentioned in his will in 1583. Presumably she was the mother of his three known children.
He was the Richard Whitney of Hardwicke mentioned in William Whitney's will dated 1 Jul 1558.[1]
He was named in his brother James's will dated 18 May 1562.[2]
He left a will dated 20 Apr 1583 naming his wife Anne, his daughter Mary, wife of Thomas Vaughan, daughter Isabell, wife of ----- ap Pritcharde, Richard Whitney the bastard son of his deceased son James Whitney, Joan Whitney, bastard daughter of the said son James, and made his executors James ap Parrie, Esquire, and Eustace Whitney, gentleman.[3]
Children of James and Anne (-----) Whitney:
i. James Whitney, died before 1583, known only from his father's will. He had two base children, maternity unknown: 1. Richard Whitney, living 1583, no further record. 2. Joan Whitney, living 1583, no further record.
ii. Mary Whitney, living 1583, m. before 1583, Thomas Vaughan. iii. Isabeth or Isabell Whitney, living 1583, her father's co-heir, m. before 1583, Rees ap Pritcharde of Sighnant, Talgarth, co. Brecon, gent.[4] 1. James ap Rees, heir apparent as of 6 February 1608.
