Samuel Franklin7 Whitney (John Merrick6, James Rex5, Caleb4, William3, Joshua2, John1), son of John Merrick6 and Clarissa (Montgomery) Whitney, was born 19 Aug 1827, Fayette, MS, and died 5 Sep 1866, Grand Gulf, MS.

He married, 13 Dec 1854, Mattie Emanuel. She was born VA.

He resided Grand Gulf, MS.

Children of Samuel Franklin7 and Mattie (Emanuel) Whitney:

i. Sims Emanuel8 Whitney, b. 1858 or ca. 1856, MS.
ii. Bayard Whitney, b. 1859; d. 1859.
iii. Mary Lelia Whitney, b. 14 Sep 1861; m. Dr. T. Ritchie Stone; resided Washington, DC.
