Joshua7 Whitney (Joshua6, Joshua5, Nathaniel4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of Joshua6 and Electa (Sawtell) Whitney, was born 11 Nov 1795, Dalton, Dalton, Coos County, New Hampshire, and died 1869, probably Eagle, Wyoming Co., NY.
He married ca. 1823, Almira -----. She was born about 1799, NY, and died after 1860.
Children of Joshua7 and Almira (-----) Whitney:
i. Carlton8 Whitney, b. ca. 1825, New York; m. Elizabeth -----, b. ca. 1829, NY. Probably he was the Carlton Whitney who m. 5 Jul 1845, Elizabeth C. Towne, dau. of Benjamin F. and Polly (Martin) Towne, b. 20 Oct 1828. The Towne family lived in Allegany Co., NY, in 1850. a. Hellen9 Whitney, b. ca. 1851, NY.
ii. Washington W. Whitney, b. 18 Nov 1827, Eagle, Allegany Co. (now Wyoming Co.), NY. - Washington W. Whitney was born in Eagle, Wyoming Co., NY Nov. 18th, 1827. Nov. 2nd, 1852 he married Miss. SUSAN CLEMENT, daughter of Sewell Clement, from Vermont, who located in Eagle, NY in 1837, and died there. Joshua Whitney, a Revolutionary soldier and a native of Massachusetts, grandfather of Washington W. Whitney, and Joshua Whitney, Jr., a native of New Hampshire, son of Joshua Whitney, and father of Washington W. Whitney, located in this section in 1812. In 1834 Joshua Whitney, Jr. moved on to the farm where Washington W. Whitney now lives, and died there in 1869. He was a man of prominence in town affairs, and served as assessor and overseer of the poor. Washington W. Whitney enlisted in Company B of the 2nd N.Y. mounted rifles Jan. 4th, 1964, and after participating in fourteen engagements, including the battles of Spottsylvania, the Wilderness and Cold Harbor (where he was wounded), was discharged in June, 1865. - HISTORY OF WYOMING CO., NY, F. Charles Whitney, b. ca. 1833, NY; living 1850, but no further record. He possibly m. Elizabeth -----, d. before 1860, and had the following children: a. Ella9 Whitney, b. ca. 1857, NY. b.
