Francis Covel7 Whitney (Levi6, Abel5, Naham4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Levi6 and Happy (Higgins) Whitney, was born 16 Mar 1823, Standish, ME, and died 25 May 1894, Standish, ME.

He married 2 Nov 1851, Gorham, ME, Rosannah K. Harmonof Buxton, ME. She was born Mar 1830, and died 8 Jun 1913, Standish, ME.

Francis was a cooper by trade, and was also a Civil War veteran whose widow received a pension from the U.S. government.

Children of Francis Covel7 and Rosannah K. (Harmon) Whitney:

i. Herbert Francis8 Whitney, b. Apr 1854, ME; m.(1) 19 Nov 1878, Standish, ME, Nellie A. Freeman; m.(2) 30 Apr 1878, Standish, ME, Elizabeth E. (Liza, Lizzie) Hester, b. Nov 1855, daughter of George W. Hester. They resided in Windham, Gorham, and Portland, ME. They had one known son: Harlan Whitney, b. Oct 1885.
ii. Edgar A. Whitney, b. Apr 1855, ME. He m. 28 Dec 1876, Standish, ME, Everline Higgins, b. July 1856 in ME. They resided in Portland, ME, where he was a grocer. They had one known son: Martin H. Whitney, b. July 1882 in ME.
iii. Josephine F. Whitney, b. Aug 1857, ME; m. 8 Apr 1880, Standish, ME, William H. Boothby of Windham, ME, and they were divorced before 1900. They had one known daughter: Gertrude L. Boothby, b. Apr 1893.
iv. Hattie B. Whitney, b. ca. 1868, ME; d. after 1880, then unmarried.
