Amas⁷ Whitney (William⁶, William⁵, William⁴, Nathaniel³, John², John¹), born 16 Jun 1777; married 9 Dec 1802, Mary Goodridge, born 20 Mar 1779; died 11 Jun 1855.

Amasa Whitney was born in Winchendon, where he always resided. He was a prominent and influential citizen, and was one of three persons to lay the foundations for the growth and prosperity of the town. By his industry, frugality, foresight and enterprise the business of the town was largely increased. He was in public employment somewhat and had much influence in town and parish affairs. He was engaged in manufacturing and was often on important town committees. He died 2 Feb 1852; resided Winchendon, Massachusetts.

i.	Webster8 Whitney, born 6 Oct 1803; married Eliza P. Whitman.
ii.	Amasa Whitney, born 24 Apr 1806; married Mary Murdock.
iii.	Harriett Whitney, born 27 Jan 1811; married 13 Nov 1833; C. C. Peirce; she died s. p. 18 Nov 1867.
iv.	WM. Lowe Whitney, born 24 Mar 1815; died 13 Jul 1832.
v.	Baxter Whitney, D., born 28 Jun 1817; married Sarah Jane Whitney.
vi.	Mary Goodridge Whitney, born 2 Aug 1819; married 8 Jul 1841, William Murdock, s. p.; resided Winchendon, Massachusetts.
vii.	John Milton Whitney, born 18 Dec 1823; died 20 Sep 1825.
