A descendant's DNA test results match 25 of 25 locations to the "signature" DNA profile of immigrant John Whitney, indicating that Chauncey Whitney was a descendant.
Note that Triangle and Lisle are only 7 miles apart, with Whitney Point, NY between them.
In 1820, he was listed just two lines away from Family:Whitney, Asa (1742-a1800) in the census (which had been alphabetized by initial letter of given name). Was he perhaps a younger son of this man?
"Chauncey Whitney (b. ca. 1796-d. aft 1872) m. ca. 1818 Amanda Taft and had ch. Oliver, Diana, Smith, Lucy and Jackson. None of these names appear to derive from the Taft side of the family.
