Lemuel Whitney, parentage unknown, was born say 1767, and died after 1820, probably in Athol, MA. Since he is not found in the 1830 or later censuses, and no further children were born after 1820, it is inferred that he died soon thereafter.

He married firstly, about 1788, Mary -----, parentage and birth unknown. She died 27 Feb 1816, Royalston, MA.[1]

[Note from Allan E. Green - A genealogy of the Woods family, published by Paul Wallred ([email protected])indicates that the first wife was an elder sister of the Anna Woods below, born 5 Feb 1771 in Athol,Worcester, MA. Source cited the Town Records of Orange, Franklin, MA, Family Group Sheets at the Orange County Historical Society. The death date of 27 Feb 1816 is shown in that same record, with the same source cited. The parents of both Mary Wood and Anna Wood were Benjamin Wood, b. unk., and Sarah Canedy, same source, Vol. 3, p. 189 and V.2c, p. 61. Mary Woods birth 5 Feb 1771, V. 2c, p. 62, marriage to Lemuel 1789, Vol. 3, p. 189; death as shown above.]

He married secondly, about 1816, Anna Woods, daughter of Benjamin and Sarah (-----) Woods. She was born about 1781, Orange, MA, baptized 6 Nov 1781, Athol, MA, and died 3 Jan 1867, Athol, MA, aged 85 years, of old age, widow.[2]

{Note from AEG - Anna Wood was born 28 Sep 1781 in Athol, Worcester, MA, source Orange Town Records, Vol. 3, p. 189 and V.2c, p. 61. She and Lemuel were married 17 Nov 1816, Vol. 3, p. 189. Her mother was Sarah Canedy, source Vol. 3, p. 189. No known birth date for Sarah Canedy but a death date appears which may be either hers or her husband's, 19 Oct 1830, source Vol. 3, p. 189.]
