Nathan⁵ Whitney (Benjamin⁴, John³, Benjamin², John¹), son of Benjamin⁴ and Mercy (Hinckley) Whitney, was born circa 1768, and died Sep 1849 (according to Pierce), but "Dea." died 23 Nov 1848, aged 77 years.^[1]

Marriage intentions were published 25 Dec 1793, Lisbon, ME, or Topsham, ME, for him and his first wife Sarah Godfrey, both "of Little River".^[2] Marriage intentions were published 25 Dec 1793, Topsham, ME, for him and his first wife Salley Godfrey, "both of Little River".^[3] She was born say 1773 at probably Lisbon Falls, ME, and died 21 Mar 1827, Lisbon, ME, or 22 Mar 1827, Augusta, ME, aged 53 years.^[4]

Marriage intentions were published 14 Jun 1828, Augusta, ME, for him and his second wife Fannie P. Shepherd "of Hallowell".^[5] He married secondly, 29 Jun 1828, Hallowell, ME, Fannie P. Shephard.^[6] She was born circa 1800, probably Hallowell, ME. She "Mrs." married secondly, 10 Mar 1850, Augusta, ME, Charles Booker.^[7]

Pierce says the following:^[8]
