There were several families in Missouri and Arkansas that had children named Wade Whitney who appear to have been related.
Note that Wade Hampton was a famous Revolutionary War hero from South Carolina. His grandson, also named Wade Hampton, was a Brigadier-General in the Civil War.
- Corporal Wade Whitney served in the W. Tennessee Militia in the War of 1812.
- Wade H. Whitney purchased land in Howard Co., MO in 1828, 1837, and 1841.
- John Whitney, b. ca. 1814, MO, m. Elinder, resided Polk Co., MO & Independence Co., AR. He was a grandson of Family:Whitney, Joseph (s1765-a1837) of Howard Co., MO. He was perhaps the brother of Family:Whitney, William (1827-a1859).
- James Whitney, b. ca. 1822, MO, resided Dallas Co., MO, had a son Wade H. Whitney
