James Monroe8 Whitney (Elisha7, Elisha6, Joshua5, Nathaniel4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of Elisha7 and Sally (Brown) Whitney, was born 31 Mar 1822, and died 21 Oct 1869, Nevada, IA.

He married, 27 Feb 1849, Edith (Fawkes) Woodfield, of Stroud, England. She was born 14 Feb 1819, England, and died 16 Jan 1882, Towanda, PA. She had married firstly, before 1838, James Woodfield, who died between 1845 and 1850.
