Jonathan Whitney (Moses, Ebenezer, [perhaps] Samuel4, John3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Moses and Esther (Sherwood) Whitney, was born 28 Nov 1806, Miramichi, NB, died 7 Jul 1880, and was buried Hodgdon Cemetery, Hodgdon, ME.

He married, 21 Mar 1837, Hodgdon, ME, Elmira Foster. She was born 31 Jan 1821, NB, and died 4 Oct 1858, Hodgdon, ME.

Children of Jonathan and Elmira (Foster) Whitney:

i. Martha J. Whitney, b. 1838; d. 13 Nov 1838.
ii. Cynthia Whitney, b. unknown; d. 3 Jul 1841.
iii. Charles W. Whitney, b. ca. 1842, ME; m. Susan E. Yerxa.
iv. George B. Whitney, b. ca. 1846, ME; d. after 1880, then unmarried.
v. Alfred L. Whitney, b. ca. 1849, ME; m. Ella Carpenter.
