Salmon Deforest9 Whitney (Robert Shaw8, Albert Appleton7, Appleton Downer6, Asa5, Joshua4, William3, Joshua2, John1), son of Robert Shaw8 and Emily (Hicks) Whitney, was born 29 Nov 1871, near Rochester, OH, and died 9 Jun 1932 in his daughter Edna's house, Homewood, IL.[1]

He married, 9 May 1894, Mary Louise Andersen, daughter of Thorvald and Lena Marie (Jamesdtr) Andersen. She was born 12 Nov 1877, Norway, and died 18 Oct 1953, Homewood, IL.

Salmon was a carpenter and house builder. He built many of the older houses in Homewood, including the one in which he lived.
