Capt. Samuel7 Whitney (Samuel6, Ezra5, James4, John3, Jonathan2, John1), born 30 Jul 1789, Douglas, MA, and died 17 Jun 1848, Ware, MA, aged 58 years 10 months, of typhus fever.[1]

Marriage intentions were published, 11 Oct 1812, Walpole, MA, for him and Mary Willard.[2] She was born 16 Jun 1790, and died 23 May 1860.

He was born in Douglas, Worcester County, MA. In 1820 he emigrated to the wilderness of Maine and located near Moosehead Lake. A town was incorporated later which he named Monson. He resided there for 12 years and later returned to Ware, where he died. On his farm in Maine was later discovered the best mine of roofing slate to be found in the world. He resided Monson, ME, and Ware, MA.

He was town clerk of Monson, ME, in 1821.[3]

ii. Samuel Albert Whitney, b. 17 May 1819; m. Sarah E. Clark.
