George Russell7 Whitney (Joseph6, Nathan5, Nathan4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Joseph6 and Mary C. (Libby) Whitney, was born 20 Mar 1813, Jonesboro, ME, and died 23 May 1857, Boston, MA, aged 42 years 2 months 4 days, of disease of heart.[1]

He married, 14 Aug 1839, Beddington, ME, Martha Lyon Noyes, daughter of Josiah Stickney and Elizabeth Bowden (Kelley) Noyes. She was born 23 Feb 1821, Jonesboro, ME, and died Nov 1906, St. Cloud, Stearns Co., MN. She married secondly Dennis A. Hoyt, of Stearns Co., MN, son of Simeon and Rachel (Wheeler) Hoyt, born about 1834, ME, from whom she was divorced.
