Was in thirty-one engagements and eleven hard fought battles; once taken prisoner; honorably discharged at Greensboro, North Carolina, 10 Jun 1865, the war being over. Engaged in the manufacture of bent carriage wood work at Berea and La Grange, Ohio, for fifteen years. Moved to Anderson, Indiana, in 1881; engaged in the hardwood lumber business for four years. Moved to Denver, Colorado, in April, 1886, and is engaged in the real estate business, resided Denver, Colorado, 1725 Arapahoe St.

He married, 13 May 1869, Ripley, OH, Lizzie Torbet. She was born 10 Jan 1846.
