Russell Whitney (John), son of John and Lydia (Russell) Whitney, was born 7 Jan 1816, Union, ME, and died 22 Nov 1859.

He married, 22 or 26 Sep 1852, Rockport, ME, Henrietta Lucretia McKellar of Camden, daughter of Andrew and Bathsheba (Annis) McKellar. She was born 25 Sep 1833, Warren, ME, and died after 1910. Marriage intentions were published 24 Mar 1879, Warren, ME, for her "Mrs." and "Mr." Amasa Carroll "both of Warren".[1] She married secondly, 20 Jun 1879, Camden, ME, Amasa Carroll, "both of Warren", ME.[2]

In Sep 1840, his father John Whitney sold a farm in Warren, ME, to him for $500, "Fifty acres more or less with buildings being the same now occupied by me".
