James Foster7 Whitney (Lemuel6, Joseph5, Timothy4, John3, John2, John1), son of Lemuel6 and Sally (Pratt) Whitney, was born 12 Sep 1808, Warwick, MA, and died 14 Aug 1851, Charleston, IL, aged 41 years 10 months, 20 days.[1] He is buried in the Old City Cemetery, Charleston, IL.

He married, Charleston, IL, Elizabeth S. Morton. She was born about 1818, Fayette Co., KY, and died after 1860. She married secondly, 16 Dec 1853, Coles Co., IL, Rufus Pierce.
