Charles Edward⁸ Whitney (Adelbert⁷, Richard Lewis⁶, Henry⁵, Eliasaph⁴, Nathan³, John², Henry¹), son of Adelbert⁷ and Caroline (Bangs) Whitney, was born 23 May 1868, Rochester, NY, and died 11 Jan 1915, Irondequoit, NY. He was buried in Riverside Cemetery, Rochester, NY.^[1]

He married firstly, after 1900, ----- -----. She is known only from the fact that the 1910 census says that Elizabeth was his second wife.

He married secondly, 28 Oct 1903, Rochester, NY, Elizabeth A. Filer, daughter of Emelio Frederick and Mary J. (Ferguson) Filer. She was born Aug 1875, Canada, and died 22 Apr 1917, Rochester, NY.

She was listed in the city directory of Rochester, NY, in 1915, widow of Charles E. Whitney, boarding at 100-1/2 Clarissa.

Her death notice, from Democrat and Chronicle, 22 Apr 1917:

"WHITNEY--At the General Hospital, Saturday, April 21, 1917, Elizabeth, widow of Charles Whitney. She leaves her mother, Mrs. Mary Filer; her grandmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Ferguson; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Williams and Mrs. William Morrison; one brother, Herbert Filer.

"--Funeral Tuesday morning at 8:30 o'clock from the residence, No. 246 1-2 Caledonia avenue and at 9 o'clock at Immaculate Conception Church."^[2]
