Aaron Whitney ([poss.] Jonathan⁵, Samuel⁴, John³, Benjamin², John¹), parentage conjectured, was born 10 Sep 1774, Lewiston, ME, and died 1848, Guilford, ME.

Intentions of marriage were published 25 Apr 1799, Lewiston, ME, for him "Mr." "of Bowdoin" and "Mrs." Betsey Hildreth "of Lewiston".^[1] He married, about 1799, Betsey Hildreth. She was born 10 Sep 1774 (as recorded), Lewiston, ME, and died 17 Aug 1819, Guilford, ME.

He married, second, 8 Sep 1822, Guilford, ME, Mary (Crockett) Doble. She was born 1 Jun 1781, Gorham, ME (or 6 Jun 1782, Sumner, Cumberland Co., ME, d. Feb 1825 - IGI). She married firstly, 24 Sep 1800, Sumner, ME, Phinehas Doble. She had the following children by her first husband: Hannah Doble, b. 3 Feb 1813, Sumner, ME; Solomon & Bernice Doble [twins], b. 21 Apr 1816, Sumner, ME. Mary (Crockett)(Doble) Whitney died 7 Jan 1826, Guilford, ME.

i.	Abigail Merrill Whitney, b. 31 Mar 1800, Lisbon, ME. Resided with the family in 1800, 1810. Married prob. firstly Noah M. Soper; secondly, Charles Mclain. See discussion.
ii.	Robert Hildrith Whitney, b. 18 Dec 1801, Lisbon, ME. Resided with the family in 1810, 1820. Married or died before 1830. No further record.
iii.	Reliance Small Whitney, b. 23 Sep 1803, Lisbon, ME. Resided with the family in 1810, 1820. She m. 18 Nov 1827 (or 25 Apr 1827?), Guilford, ME, Mr. Manoah Harriman.[2]
iv.	Annas Spears Whitney, b. 23 Sep 1805, Lisbon, ME; m. Drusilla Wright.
v.	Relief Guildsmith Whitney, b. 7 Sep 1807, Litchfield, ME. Resided with the family in 1810, 1820. Married or died before 1830.
vi.	Sally Spears Whitney, b. 11 Oct 1809, Industry, ME. Resided with the family in 1810; died before 1820.
vii.	Thomas Flint Whitney, b. 13 Nov 1813, Industry, ME; m. Adaline Wright.
viii.	William Hildrith Whitney, b. 7 Oct 1815, Industry, ME; m. Mary V. Morrill.
viii.	Betsey Whitney "Jr", b. 7 Oct 1818, Guilford, ME; d. 29 Dec 1819, Guilford, ME.

Notes

Since Aaron's family appears in Thompsonborough together with Jonathan Whitney and Jonathan Whitney, Jr., it seems likely that he was closely related to them. Possibly he may have been a son of Jonathan, Sr., and brother of Jonathan, Jr., but this is just a guess.
