Adelbert A.9 Whitney (Levi Warren8, Levi7, Abner6, Samuel5, William4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of Levi Warren8 and Martha (Bohannon) Whitney, was born about Feb 1846 (twin), NY, and died Apr 1916, Chaplin, Saskatchewan, Canada. He was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Melrose, MN.
He married, 7 Feb 1872, Harriet M. Spencer, daughter of Dennis and Julia M. (-----) Spencer. She was born Apr 1856, Jefferson, Richland Co., OH, and died 1 Jun 1910, Melrose, MN. She was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Melrose, MN.
When Adelbert was but fifteen years of age, he enlisted in Company A, of the Eighty-first New York Volunteer Infantry, and served about four years and four months, without a day's sickness or an hour's absence from duty.
He attended the Commercial College at Oswego, New York, and afterwards engaged in mercantile pursuits at the latter city for two years.
In 1871, he came to Melrose, taught school the first winter, and has since, with the exception of two year's absence on the plains, had the management of Clark & McClure's lumber business at this point.
