He married before 1847, Matilda Edwina Morgan. She was born 1835, Madison Co., NY, and died 1908, NY. She was buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Chittenango, NY.^[2]

Born Madison Co.; occupation, farmer; grey eyes, light hair dark complexion, height 5 ft. 3 inches; credited to Tompkins, Delaware Co.[6] Enlisted 21 Nov 1866, New York, NY, by Capt. Ogilby, for 3 years, of Sullivan, NY, aged 21, laborer, grey eyes, light hair, fair complexion, height 5' 4-4/8", in 17th Infantry 35, by 15th Infantry, discharged 3 Nov 1869, by expiration of service, at Point Jan Jose, CA, a Private.[7] On 23 Nov 1869, enlisted at Fort Conig, N.M., by Lt. Sartle, of Sullivan, NY, aged 24, soldier, grey eyes, light hair, fair complexion, height 5 ft. 4-1/2 in., in Co. K, 15th U.S. Infantry, second enlistment, discharged 23 Nov 1874, due to expiration of service, at New Orleans, LA, On 3 Oct 1874, as a Sergeant.[8] On 3 Dec 1874, enlisted at W. Merwin, NM, by Capt. Ellis, of Sullivan, NY, aged 30, soldier, grey eyes, light hair, fair complexion, height 5 ft. 4-1/2 in., in Co. C, 15th U.S. Infantry; discharged 1 Nov 1879 at Camp Chelm, W.
